TOP BILLS WE ARE WATCHING:

House Bill 132 allows pharmacists and pharmacy interns to substitute prescribed drugs under certain circumstances. This bill is on the agenda to be heard by the House Health and Human Services Committee Tues Jan 23 at 2:00 PM. You can find the link to join here if you are interested in listening in or commenting.

House Bill 340 amends provisions related to the types of drugs a health care provider may dispense in the health care provider's office. This changes provisions that were initially enacted in the 2022 Legislative Session which can be found here and removes the clause limiting drugs dispensed by a licensed prescriber to 30 days or for conditions expected to last less than 30 days.

House Bill 260 adds gabapentin to a Schedule V of the list of controlled substances.

House Bill 123 requires health care providers who administer certain vaccinations to disclose any additional compensation the provider expects to receive for administering the vaccination or vaccines. We don't yet know this will impact pharmacy.

Please reach out to the USHP Advocacy Committee at advocacy@ushp.org if you have any questions about the bills above, others that make their way through the session, or the legislative process.

Thanks for your involvement!
